Bipasha Basu participate in Delhi marathon: Bollywood beauty Bipasha Basu paid a early morning visit to the capital city today, flagging off the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon. The actress is the brand ambassador of the marathon which espouses the cause of education for the girl child. Despite being down with a bout of fever and cold, Bipasha made time to interact with a group of young fans at the event and answered their questions.

“Firstly it is very important to study and be confident. Acting is a creative medium, it not only requires skill but also luck and love and support of people,” she advised the youngsters.

The Bengali beauty who had earlier participated in the Mumbai Marathon hoped that Delhi too runs with all it’s spirit. “I hope that Delhi has the same spirit or even better than Mumbai. I’m extremely excited and proud, being the face of a gold label marathon and it is amazing watching people celebrating their city together,” said the actress. The Beedi Jalaile beauty is a self-confessed fitness fanatic and says that fit people are an inspiration to her “People who are fit are my icons. Every time I hit the gym, I see 50- 60 year old aunties working out regularly which is brilliant sight,” she said.

Vidya Balan’s display prowess wants no support: Vidya Balan’s performance prowess needs no corroboration. But when you learn that she will be playing a character loosely based on the South sex-symbol Silk Smitha (who featured in string of soft-porn films in the 80s and early 90s), it certainly generates a lot of curiosity. While a formulaic filmmaker would have thought of casting someone like today’s sex-symbol Mallika Sherawat to portray the character of a yesteryear sex-symbol, director Milan Luthria chooses Vidya Balan for the role in his film A Dirty Picture . “I wanted the casting to arouse interest. At the same time I wanted a process of discovery to happen with the film and lend a new dimension to Vidya Balan”, says Milan.

While Vidya Balan has largely restricted herself to the girl-next-door image, she displayed a hint of her sensual side in Ishqiya . Will she take it a step further in A Dirty Picture ? “Everything from sex, sleaze and exposure will essentially be a part of the character”, assures Milan clarifying in the same breath, “But I am not an exploitative filmmaker. I want to capture the dramatic and moving side of the story. For that I wanted an ambassador who would not only add sex-appeal to the character but also bring a certain element of emotion and class”.

Rani appreciates doing ladies driven pictures: Bollywood actor Rani Mukerji enjoys being a part of women-centric films and says she would like do more movies, where a woman is projected as a strong person. “Whatever films I have been a part of so far, most of them have been women-centric films. I wish to do more such films where women are shown stronger because it is a fact that women are stronger,” says Rani, who gave hits like Bunty Aur Babli and Saathiya.

According to her, the role in the upcoming film No One Killed Jessica will be a reflection of her belief where she would be seen in the role of a TV journalist. Rani has undergone a training process and has closely studied the profession to perform it well on the big screen. The actor was in the capital to promote her forthcoming film No one killed Jessica with Vidya Balan. Sabrina Lal made a special appearance during the press conference. The film is extensively shot in Delhi.

Rani made her Bollywood debut with the woman-centric film Raja Aayegi Baraat. She was later seen in films like Mehendi, Black, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Hum Tum, Yuva and Veer Zaara among others. Asked about not being seen on screen much these days, Rani said, “I want to be a part of good films and play good characters. I wouldn’t like to disappoint my fans. I have always tried that every new film I do is different from others.”

“After Dil Bole Hadippa, I found the script of No One Killed Jessica best, so I decided to take it up. We had completed our shooting in June, but they (the makers) also needed some time to complete the film,” she said. No One Killed Jessica is based on model Jessica Lall, who was shot dead in 1999 by Manu Sharma in a nightclub. Produced by UTV Spotboy, the film also features Vidya Balan as Jessica’s elder sister Sabrina. It will hit the screens on January 7 next year.

This movie about coming of age and relationships has taught Deepika a lesson or two in real life she confides. “After doing the movie, I came to know that people can actually give their love life a second try after putting in some space between each other. The concept is very new for me as I hail from a conservative family. Also I have grown up watching elders being happily married and spending their life with one person without ever wanting a break. I also learnt that a certain amount of tolerance is needed to make a relationship work,” she says.

The model-turned-actor who went through a much hyped break up with Ranbir Kapoor  feels if there is no scope of a reconciliation it’s better to move on.“ I feel if a relationship has turned sour then one needs to move on in life. There is no point in sitting and crying over the spilt milk. It’s important to move on in life. We all have strength within ourselves to control our feelings and go ahead. We need to leave all the negativity that we may have experienced in our relationship and move on,” opines Deepika.

But moving on doesn’t mean severing all ties with your ex-flame, you can still be friends claims the actor. “When in relationship we feel that person is very important to us. The moments spent with him/her memorable. But when a relationship doesn’t work out you need not harbour any grudges. Instead create positivity, carry all the good things and maintain your friendship with him/her,” she quips.

Much has been written about Deepika and Ranbir some of it true and some of it mere rumours. But when asked about her ex-beau, Deepika does not restrain from commenting. “As I have said earlier too we are good friends,” avers the actor.

Having learnt from experience, Deepika also has a bit of advice for the ones coping with a break up. “Maintaining a relationship requires a lot of give and take. Sacrifices have to be made by both the couple.

Establishing a comfort level is also essential to carry forward a relationship.  But if it still does not work out then we need not give up life. We need to attend to so many other things in our life time.

It’s important to keep ourselves busy by taking interest in our work.

Time is a great healer and you will gradually get over it,” she says with conviction.

And she has moved on as she is currently said to be dating business tycoon Sidharth Mallya, but once bitten twice shy, Deepika is cautious about talking of her present relationship. “I will not comment on this. A lot of media attention was given to my personal life because I was vocal about my relationship with Ranbir. Hence, I have decided to not talk about my personal life anymore,” she confirms.

But recently did she go for an eye check up with Sidharth as was quoted by many newspapers? “Smiles…I have my glasses. I don’t need to go for an eye check up now. Things were blown out of proportions by the media.” she replies.

Moving on to discussing about friends and foes in the industry, Deepika clarifies that all is well between her and Sonam. “I have no grudges against Sonam. It’s the media that’s creating such hypes. Karan’s show is not to be taken seriously. He asks tongue in cheek questions but it is all done in good humour.”

She also maintains that she doesn’t have very close friends in Bollywood. “I am so busy that I do not have much time to find a best friend in the industry. Moreover, whenever we are working we meet each
other frequently, converse and then as soon as the film is over we don’t get to see each other. But while working together I have always shared a good rapport with my co-stars.” she declares.

Salman Khan and Asin shoot togather: Asin is not comfortable with intimate scenes. She is two films old in Bollywood but did not expose herself in any of those as she does not feel ease with exposure. But finally she has to give her inhibitions. Bipasha Basu: I could never shift base: The Bong beauty might have shifted her gears and is shooting for her first international project — but actor Bipasha Basu wouldn’t want to shift base out of Bollywood ever. “Bollywood has made me who I am. I cannot even think of shifting base anywhere else. I am very clear about my priorities. Whatever work I take up, in any country, my base will always be Mumbai and I will always operate from here,” says Bipasha.

The sultry actor says she can never imagine herself staying in the US or the UK (with a work visa) for half-a-year at a stretch. “It will be too much for me. I’ll feel homesick. I need my family and John (actor John Abraham) to be around me. I am too used to it. It would be a huge problem if my routine changes. I am not too comfortable with changes,” she adds.

Vidya Balan celebrate Diwali at home: This was Vidya Balan’s first Diwali in her new home in Khar, so she took a day off from Kolkata where she’s shooting for Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahani to be home in Mumbai for the festival of lights.The actress says, “This is something I had to do. My parents insisted I come back home. My sister Priya was so excited about Diwali I can’t understand it. It was almost as if I was getting married.

She offered to speak to my director Sujoy Ghosh in Kolkata, as if I am in school and I needed the teacher’s permission to go home.”However the actress decided to speak to the ‘headmaster’ directly, “I spoke to Sujoy and left for a much-needed break.

Katrina Kaif draws in prospective suitors in Patiala: Katrina Kaif has no dearth of suitors in Patiala where hopefuls have been lining up outside her hotel to catch a glimpse of the movie star.Ever since Katrina Kaif began shooting for director Ali Abbas Zafar’s Mere Brother Ki Dulhan in Patiala, a lot of the local Punjabi boys are lining up at the non-luxury hotel Iqbal Inn, where she is staying, hoping to catch a glimpse of her and it’s not just for autographs.

Of course, the fact that she is a popular actress is incentive enough. But a lot of the local boys who show up at the hotel call her ‘Jasmeet’ (her name in Namastey London). At first, Kat was puzzled. Later, it struck her why. Laughs Katrina, “In Namastey London I played a girl who comes to Punjab with her parents, looking for a bridegroom. I think these gentlemen take my screen role too seriously.

These wannabe husbands keep showing up, asking for the actress. When they’re told she has gone for shooting, they ask for “Katrinaji’s parents” for “negotiations” The bemused actress has to sneak out the backdoor and back in, in a disguise after the shooting. Says the actress, “It’s fun as long as the shooting doesn’t get disrupted or I am not intruded upon. These are harmless fans… at least most of them are.”

Things got a little out of hand these past few days when fans began showing up with shagun ko tohfa and shaadi ka jodaa to lock in on the marriage. That’s when the security was tightened around the otherwise sleepy hotel. Kat admits, “We’ve the local administration in Patiala providing us the security. And then we’ve our own security from Mumbai. So I guess it’s safe. Fortunately, the shooting is a little out of Patiala. Shooting in town would’ve been impossible.”

She adds that she’s roughing it out. “The place we’re staying in is very basic. There’re no luxury hotels here. I enjoy the austerity. I think we actors are much too pampered.”But Katrina is being looked after by producer Aditya Chopra. The Chopra scion sends anxious messages to the Mere Brother Ki Dulhan crew asking about his leading lady’s welfare. Her two co-stars Imran Khan and Ali Zafar are also very protective.

Kareena Kapoor celebrate Diwali with Saif: Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan usually attend parties together. But on Diwali night, the gal was seen letting her hair down not  with her beau but with her Golmaal 3 gang at Tusshar Kapoor’s house. Sources said she had been whooping it up like “one of the boys”.The actress explains her man’s absence by her side, “Saif was away attending his school friend’s wedding in London. So I decided to party the night away with the Golmaal team at Tusshar’s place.”Comparing it with the times she is out with Saif, the Kapoor gal said, “We do tend to get self-conscious of our image when we’re out together. But when I was alone on Diwali night with my friends, it was a different experience.

Incidentally, the Chhote Nawab is yet to see Golmaal 3. After Golmaal 2, Kareena was reluctant to do the third part, but her Omkara co-star insisted she do the film. Says an emotional Bebo, “Saif was the one who always said I had to do Golmaal 3 as it will be a huge hit and success is what really matters at the end of the day. So I’ve only Saif to thank for giving me sound advice.” Now she is all set to shoot for Golmaal 4 next year.
