It’s not always easy being a movie star, especially when there are animals involved, just ask Akshay Kumar! The actor’s new movie Khatta Meetha has been criticized by some at the Censor Board of Film Certification for ‘cruelty toward animals.’ Wow! What happened?

Well, there is a scene in the movie that shows an elephant pulling a road-roller. The funny flick’s producers were asked to delete the scene but this would have delayed its release significantly and the moviemakers managed to sort out the problem without too much trouble.

Phew! We bet fans are happy they will get to see Akshay Kumar in Khatta Meetha soon, with or without his run-in with an elephant! And hopefully all rules were respected so the actor doesn’t get into trouble with PETA!

In Khatta Meetha, Akshay plays a road constructor named Sachin Tichkule, and Trisha Krishnan, who makes her Bollywood debut in this satirical comedy, plays his love interest. The funny flick is a remake of the 1989 Malaysian movie Vellanakalude that starred Nadu Mohanlal, Shobana, Nedumudi Venu and Sreenivasan.

Apart from Akshay and Trisha, the new version also stars model and actress Urvashi Sharma and Holi actor Paresh Rawal. Even though Khatta Meetha is a remake, it is also based on the murder of PWD engineer Yogendra Pandey from Bihar who was killed by the road mafia in 2009.

The flick hits theaters on July 23, will you go and see it, with or without elephants? Drop us a line.
